We’re often taught to ignore or diminish our mind-body needs/signals. Sometimes we need to ask the right questions to get back in tune with ourselves.

  • What thoughts or emotions are coming up? Calm? Anxious? Overwhelmed? Trouble focusing? Angry?
  • Do you notice any tightness or holding patterns in your body?
  • How is your breath? Slow and steady? Shaky? Shallow? Restricted?
  • Do you notice your heart beating? Is it faint? Rapid? Steady?
  • How about your stomach? Does it feel normal? In knots? Butterflies? Painful?
  • Are you perspiring? Is it just your palms or is it more broadly?
  • How is your physical posture? Alert yet relaxed or slumped and closed off?

There should be no judgement about what comes up. Just awareness.

“Here is a question Jung used when working with a trigger that I just love. Ask yourself, ‘ What has come alive in me that is calling my attention, that wants to be known?’” - Like a Spark From Fire
