What is a Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist?
Jennifer Glover-Keller, LLC | DEC 28, 2021
A Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist's job is not to treat or diagnose, but rather to complement your current medical treatment plan with personalized yoga to meet your needs. The Yoga Medicine® curriculum takes a deep dive into the human body so that the Therapeutic Specialist is prepared to work with healthcare professionals and to holistically understand their client's needs. Many of the Yoga Medicine®courses are taught by healthcare providers and researchers.
In order to become a Yoga Medicine ® Therapeutic Specialist, the yoga teacher must have first completed a 200 Hr yoga teacher training from a Yoga Alliance certified school. Then, they will complete 290 hours of advanced education and more than 10 hours of case studies for the 300/500 hour certification. After successfully completing the 300/500 hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Medicine®, the yoga teacher can register as a Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist by making the commitment to certain standards, including 10 continuing education hours with Yoga Medicine® each year.
See Yoga Medicine ® for more details about its curriculum.
